A memory...
I have recently moved house hence the large gap between my last post and now and unfortunately I havn't had much time to do anything artsy besides playing around with my camera. Fortunately I have moved to a rural property that has provided me with limitless amounts of inspiration, especially for my photographic work. Whilst i was uploading my new photographs i was reminded of a series of photos i took last year of an old abandoned house. I made my partner stop the car on our road trip so i could take some photographs of this beautiful yet haunting structure in the middle of nowhere. Here are some examples of that collection:
Just down the road I also took this photo. Besides changing the image to greyscale little else has been altered in this image:
I decided to turn all of these images into black and white images because to me it seems they were meant to be that way. By doing this it emphasizes the eerie feeling i got looking at these structures.

Cherry Hood Inspiration
I visited the Tweed River Art Gallery for the first time
yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to discover two Cherry Hood artworks in
the collection. She works predominantly with watercolour creating beautiful portraits. The portrait below(taken from http://cherryhood.co/) is one of the two exhibited in the gallery.
I spent quite a while studying the different colours she has used and layered on to the paper to create this beautiful work.

Pretty Boy
I have a thing for pretty boys, so I thought I might do a painting of one. This was done using oils and i limited my colour palette to ultramarine blue and white. I may add some black..what do you think?

Lolita
Today in the studio i started my new "Lolita" series with two ink drawings. My "Lolita" series is something i have been thinking about since last year and is inspired by the novel "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov. Eventually i would like to produce a series of oil paintings. Let me know what you think so far..
